The River Disctrict in Asheville follows the French Broad River through town and is currently home to a vibrant art community, housed in old industrial shops and warehouses. Some of the industry remains but many of the buildings are dilapidated and empty. As in any area of the South that isn't constantly maintained, the vegetation in the area is overgrown and wild. Last summer there was a major flood in the valley, which didn't help much either. All in all it's a great place for a photographer like me to look for photographic opportunities - which, when the light is right, are everywhere in the River District.
